Aras PLM’s Hard Digital Thread Package: Real-Time IoT & Analytics, AI in the New InnovatorEdge, and the Partnership With SANDVIK’s MasterCAM

“CEO ROQUE MARTIN demonstrates his intention to materialize the vision, Digital Thread + AI = Connected Intelligence.“ There’s a lot of things happening within PLM developer Aras and the company’s Innovator platform. The latest is last week’s announced partnership with BellaDati PTE, a developer of IoT and analytics platforms, aimed at enabling manufacturers to strengthen the digital thread, drive operational efficiency and improve service outcomes. A key point is that the partnership is about developing Aras’ IoT pieces with a strong real-time solution for the digital thread. According to Aras CEO Roque Martin, this allows manufacturers to connect design, production and maintenance through continuous, real-time visibility across the product lifecycle. One result, he says, is things like high level traceability, support for higher product quality and more informed and responsive decision-making between teams.
"The collaboration between us and BellaDati sharpens the power of the Aras platform. With IoT and real-time analytics in the digital thread, it will be possible for our customers to deepen visibility over the product lifecycle, increase service operations and accelerate data-driven decision-making – all within a unified PLM environment," says Martin.
But there’s more. Aras' solutions have always been characterized by an architecture that emphasizes openness, scalability and integration. All of this of great importance in AI, as are the connections to the maturity of the digital thread. The same goes for another recent step forward related to Aras’ bet on a competitive and hard digital thread package: During the company's user event ACE 2025 in Boston in mid-May, the new InnovatorEdge showcased a next step in PLM development. It's a solution that connects people, data and processes using AI and low-code. The idea behind InnovatorEdge is, among other things, to provide a modular API that will modernize PLM, while allowing you to leverage what you have done before. Innovation on the one hand, backward compatibility on the other.
With these capabilities and with real-time collection and analysis of IoT data, Aras is thus expanding the value that it can deliver to customers; both in discrete manufacturing, as well as in process industrial sectors, such as the chemical industry. Here, there are industry-specific challenges such as regulatory compliance, equipment uptime and early detection of anomalies where the BellaDati collaboration can make a difference. With BellaDati's IoT and analytics capabilities integrated into Aras Innovator, manufacturing companies will be able to automate things like maintenance workflows, optimize service parts inventory, and perform advanced predictive maintenance.
Another piece within the digital thread package is the partnership with the new customer SANDVIK’s MasterCAM. In what way?

A general conclusion of the collaboration with BellaDati is about features that, ”drive higher productivity in aftermarket service and higher customer satisfaction,” Aras further writes in the press release.
But BellaDati PTE’s head, CEO Kazuto Saito, also points out in more another general value: what Aras will be able to achieve with Bella Dati’s solutions is about initiating digital transformation by rapidly implementing impactful proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives and seamlessly scaling to full production environments.
“By combining the strengths of Aras and BellaDati, end users gain seamless access to a robust platform designed to t deliver real results – fast. With ready-made solutions tailored to real use cases, we are uniquely positioned to help customers drive innovation, improve operational agility, and achieve measurable success. I am confident that our collaboration will accelerate digital value,” says Sato.

The enhancement of service BOM management is of course an important digital value in this context, supporting the automation of maintenance and service capabilities in the Innovator PLM environment.

With IoT and real-time analytics in the digital thread, it will be possible for our customers to deepen visibility over the product lifecycle, increase service operations and accelerate data-driven decision-making – all within a unified PLM environment,” says Aras PLM CEO, Roque Martin.

Available via Aras Marketplace
As part of the agreement, Aras and its global partner network will also offer BellaDati’s IoT and analytics technologies as integrated components of their PLM solutions.
The offering will be available via Aras Marketplace as part of the growing ecosystem of solutions developed and distributed through Build with Aras – enabling customers to more easily adopt and scale digital capabilities tailored to their business needs.
“This,” Aras writes in a press release, “positions both companies to deliver unified, data-driven innovation to manufacturers worldwide.”

Notable about the BellaDati platform in general is that it offers a low-code development environment, which allows users to flexibly build and deploy applications and services tailored to their business processes.
“What traditionally required multiple products can now be achieved through a single, integrated package,” Aras writes in the press material.

InnovatorEdge – four strong points
A few words about Aras InnovatorEdge: It generally is designed, among other things, to improve digital thread capabilities with AI-driven analytics and secure data control.
Four main areas are:

  • Application Connections – Seamless integration with enterprise apps.
  • AI & Analytics Portals – Advanced insights for smarter decision-making.
  • Value Chain Connectivity – Secure data sharing across supply chains.
  • Task-Specific Apps – Adaptable solutions for industry needs.
During the ACE event, Roque Martin stated that Aras InnovatorEdge, “will drive intelligence across PLM workflows, enabling greater efficiency, traceability and adaptability.”

The SANDVIK MasterCAM deal
Interestingly from a new customer perspective, by the way, is that Aras and Sandvik during ACE 2025 announced that they in a new partnership intend to use Aras Innovator as the foundation for MasterCAM and its CAM data management to further connect the digital thread of the product.

It’s doubtlessly a commercially interesting catch for Aras to have the world’s number one in terms of unbundled licenses most sold CAM solution on the customer list.
