The collaboration between the two companies was signed by Cedrik Neike and Prof. Dr. Friedhelm Loh, owner and chairman of the Friedhelm Loh Group, at the SPS fair (EPLAN is part of the Friedhelm Loh Group). The improved offers will gradually become available to customers starting next year for the benefit of EPLAN’s roughly 68,000 customers.
Automating repetitive tasks creates time for innovation
In general about EPLAN, it can be noted that it is part of the Friedhelm Loh Group, a worldwide movement with 12 production facilities and 95 international subsidiaries. The entire group employs 12,100 people and generated revenues of approximately EUR 3.0 billion in 2023.
An important point of EPLAN software is that it automates repetitive tasks, such as automatic wiring, reports and parts lists, so that engineers can focus on more complex design tasks. This, claims the company’s webpage, ”increases the efficiency and accuracy of projects and frees up time for innovation.”
EPLAN further provides comprehensive project management tools that enable engineers to monitor every aspect of their project.
Comprehensive platform solution
Just like several important players in the PLM and sub-PLM areas, the company has developed a platform, the EPLAN Platform. This platform is a comprehensive software solution that addresses a wide range of engineers and combines powerful software for a variety of tasks. A new version is released every year with updates and new features. Overall, it offers software for a wide range of engineering disciplines from a single source. ”This is much more than traditional ECAD software,” sums up Sebastian Seitz.
As for one of the company’s main areas of capability, control panel and enclosure design – including related documentation – this is covered by the EPLAN Pro Panel software, mentioned in the introduction. It offers tools for creating detailed panel layouts, including component placement, wiring, and interconnects. The software’s 3D visualization capabilities improve design accuracy and facilitate efficient panel design.
The second software mentioned in the intro, EPLAN Electric P8, provides comprehensive tools for creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and control panel layouts. The software’s automation and integration capabilities make it a powerful solution for designing and managing electrical systems.
Finally, a few words about the company’s partner network: In addition to Siemens, most of the well-known names in the industry such as Rockwell Automation, Rittal, Phoenix, Contact, and Dassault Systemes are found here.
