Swedish IoT man awarded prestigious European prize as ”IoT Executive of the Year”

European private equity firm Castik Capital is known for driving profitable investments in high-quality, growing companies headquartered in Europe and led by strong management teams. One of the companies in which it owns the majority is the IoT player AddSecure, whose CEO, Stefan Albertsson, has now been awarded the "IoT Executive of the Year" at the latest edition of the IoT Global Awards.
The IoT Global Awards is a well-known awards program that recognizes the most innovative companies, products and individual talents in the IoT industry. Each year, a panel of independent and qualified judges selects the best companies, start-ups and business leaders in the IoT industry, in eleven categories.
It’s clear that the choice of Albertsson has good grounds. In just one decade, he has transformed a once modest Swedish company, focused on monitored alarm transmission, into a multinational IoT company with a turnover of 200 million euros. At the same time, market analyzes show that global IoT investments are staggeringly high: According to Statista's figures, in 2023 we are talking about global investments of $805 billion in IoT technology.
With Stefan Albertsson's award, AddSecure and the main owners Castik get yet another receipt for one of the most important investment parameters they have - strong leadership. The "IoT Executive of the Year” category rewards the most creative, innovative, dynamic or inspirational IoT leaders who not only drive sales within their own organizations but also advance the IoT industry as a whole.
“The award is a huge honor and I accept the award on behalf of the entire AddSecure team,” says Albertsson and adds: "Our dedicated, talented and hard-working employees are the driving force behind our strong growth as we deliver on our mission to make the world safer, smarter and more sustainable through secure IoT solutions.”
Today the Internet of Things technology also play a big role in the PLM area, not least related to the connections between the sensors' ability to capture data about how products are used by end customers. By feeding back this data to the PLM system, you can easily build in product innovations and improvements related to how the "Things" are used.

More and more organizations are investing in IoT and their number in Europe alone is more than 2.5 million companies and organizations (as of May 2020, according to Statista). But despite the 805 billion dollars spent globally on IoT-related investments, in 2023 they grew less than the original forecast, which, according to Statista, can be attributed to the coronavirus pandemic. The forecast for global spending on IoT by 2023 was 1.1 trillion US dollars. Region-wise, Asia Pacific held the largest share of the IoT market. North America came in second, followed by Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Security, efficiency and operating costs the most important reasons
What are the main reasons for companies’ IoT investments? There are several, but security appears to be a growing problem for companies. In fact, when asked why they adopted IoT, the majority of European IoT users stated that the reason was to improve security. Other reasons were to reduce operating costs and improve efficiency.

The security parts are also what AddSecure emphasizes as one of its most important perspectives in the IoT work. In fact the company claim that they are, “a leading European supplier of secure IoT connections and end-to-end solutions.” By combining connected, data-driven and sensor-based solutions with long experience and expertise, it act in several different industries. The company has over 1,100 employees and provides both managed services and connection to all types of devices that need secure communication and data transfer.

AddSecure’s IoT solutions are used in real estate, alarms, transport and logistics, personal safety, digital care, construction sites, municipalities, schools, emergency services, power grids and more. The head office is located in Stockholm, Sweden, but the operations cover the whole of Europe and also serve customers all over the world.
