SKF’s Journey into PLM and Smart Manufacturing

The article above is Verdi Ogewell’s first of two on SKF’s PLM and Smart Manufacturing journey. In this first part I have outlined how this global ball bearing giant has made three model facilities that embrace digital transformations and the benefits this brought to the table. But SKF is about so many more than just three factories. In fact, the company has over 100 facilities worldwide. The question now is how to get the three ”model factories” concept to spread throughout the organization? How do you meet the challenges and what’s in the future for SKF?
In the second article, which will be published later this week, I will discuss around these questions, guided by SKF’s COO, Kent Viitanen.
Besides the importance of inspiring and organizing the employees according to cohesive digital end-to-end solutions Viitanen pointed at the roles of digital twins.
“The future is about how we deal with this,” he said.
Stay tuned to be alerted when the second article is live.
