JOHAN ANDERSSON, CEO Addnode Group: "ACAD-Plus will be a perfect addition to our Design Management division."
Addnode Group, which owns Autodesk's largest global VAR partner, Symetri, has made another company acquisition in the US. This time it is a smaller company, ACAD-Plus, five employees and revenues of around $1.2 million, specializing in AutoCAD solutions. But it's not the size of the company that's interesting, but the technology it's based on. The point is FMG-Plus, an add-on that transforms static CAD drawings into dynamic, data-rich tools for better property management.
Generally, ACAD-Plus is a supplier of CAD-based software for space management and facility optimization. The company is based in Houston, Texas, USA, and was founded in 1986. A seasoned player, in other words, it seems to have been around since AutoCAD debuted at the turn of the year 1982-83. The company has also been at the forefront of innovation in facilities management (CAFM), helping organizations effectively manage more than 1 billion square meters of built space worldwide. With a strong presence in higher education at over 150 public and private universities and a growing customer base in the public sector, ACAD-Plus has built a reputation for precision, reliability, and ease of use in managing complex facility portfolios.
“ACAD-Plus will be a perfect addition to our Design Management division. The company’s offering aligns well with the division’s existing product portfolio in digital lifecycle management across the built environment, from early design and construction to operations and maintenance,” says Johan Andersson, CEO of Addnode Group. The Design Management division is commercially the largest of Addnode's three legs. PLM is another, containing Dassault consultancy TECHNIA as the leading player.
Regarding the ACAD-Plus flagship FMG-Plus, it is a powerful AutoCAD add-on that integrates seamlessly with third-party platforms, including platforms for integrated workplace management systems (IWMS), computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), and other CAFM environments.
The great thing about the ACAD-Plus add-on FMG-Plus is its powerful ability to create a “live”, two-way bridge between AutoCAD drawings and property management databases, making spatial data accurate, visual, and easy to manage. This helps organizations like universities optimize space, reduce costs, and improve operations by linking CAD details directly to database information (such as asset details, maintenance records, or occupancy data) for instant updates and better reporting.
“FMG-Plus provides opportunities to optimize space utilization, improve operational efficiency, and meet compliance and security standards,” says Andersson.
