PTC’s Largest Global VAR Partner, PDSVISION, Buys Danish Modular Architecture Specialist

"EXCEPTIONAL EXPERTISE". PDSVISION continues to expand through, among other things, acquisitions. The company, which is the largest global VAR (Value Added Reseller) of PLM developer, PTC, announces that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Denmark-based CPC – Center for Product Customization. CPC is a local leading service provider in modular architecture, which means that PDSVISION is taking a major step to strengthen itself in this area.
But what is meant by modular architecture? The definition of the term varies, but generally it is about structures to effectively manage products that are intended to be produced in many variants, or that are provided with specific customization requirements, or that are to be upgradeable over time in terms of functional performance. Viewed from these parameters, the modular approach is generally the most successful methodology for effectively bringing these products to market. In short, modular architecture means designing products with clearly defined, interchangeable and functionally independent components or modules. An interesting purchase that is well in line with market developments.
According to PDSVISION, CPC has established exceptional expertise in the modularity side, with extensive experience of relevant architectures, proven track records in helping customers reduce the complexity of their respective manufacturing and a strong market presence. This combined, according to PDSVISION CEO Mats Oretorp, will be crucial in driving the future growth of this strong PTC partner.
“Absolutely,” says Oretorp. “We’re talking about a major milestone in our commitment to be a leader in the digital technology ecosystem, innovating and helping customers drive change that generates business-critical results.”
It’s not hard to agree – why? Variants and customization drive complexity and in this, modular architectures are particularly effective in industries such as automotive, consumer electronics, wind power or computers where consumers respond to often specific choices and criteria alternatives when defining desired products. With a modular methodology, a limited number of components can be combined and assembled in countless ways. All in the name of being able to offer a wide range of distinct product variants. Undoubtedly, the manufacturing market is generally developing in this direction, which means that PDSVISION’s purchase fits well with the demands of both existing and potential customers. It is also important to note - although CPC can be expected to continue as a standalone entity within the PDSVISION group - that CPC’s strong expertise underpins the group’s ambitions to continue its global expansion strategy.

From CPC’s side, CEO Ulf Harlou believes that the partnership will unlock a wealth of resources and expertise for the company’s customers:
”That’s right,” he says. ”This gives us the opportunity to meet their needs more effectively. We look forward to contributing to PDSVISION’s growth and delivering unmatched value. Finding the right partner to help us take the next step in our corporate journey has been crucial for me and CPC. In PDSVISION, we found a partner who gives us global reach, financial muscle and, most importantly, a folk culture that we share. I look forward to continuing our CPC journey on this next exciting step – as part of PDSVISION.”

”A technology that unleashes the full potential of technology
It is also noteworthy that PDSVISION has already collaborated with CPC for several years, and shares a focus on quality, competence and customer success. This is important when a business is to be integrated into a new context. Aleksander Patz Cholakov, CEO Nordics at PDSVISION, and now also Integration Manager for CPC, comments on the matter as follows:

“By simplifying and creating coherent modular architectures, we enable our customers to unlock the full potential of technology, exploit modular opportunities and drive integration between people, processes and technology.”

What else can be gained from modular approaches?
Finally, another important advantage that comes with modular architecture approach: It provides the ability to react flexibly to market changes. This can be a decisive advantage for product success. Being able to sense and react to changes in the market and consumer preferences is of paramount importance. Modular design allows companies to adapt to market changes quickly, without compromising quality. Individual functional modules in the product can be introduced or upgraded without having to overhaul the entire product. Customization is also improved, making it possible to tailor a product for specific customers or markets without significant changes to the production process and at minimal cost.

Scalability is another important advantage in that production can be increased or decreased relatively easily, based on changing demand.
