World-Leading Dutch Dairy Player Bets on TECHNIA and Dassault’s 3DEXPERIENCE Platform

MAGNUS FALKMAN, TECHNIA’s CEO on the new FrieslandCampina Professional partnership: “A remarkable example of the meeting of innovation, collaboration and digital excellence.”
Globally operating dairy company Royal FrieslandCampina Group’s division, Professional Systems, has selected PLM consultant TECHNIA to provide a digital collaboration platform to enable more efficient cooperation between the various suppliers and manufacturers of its Lattiz product line. This Dutch company group is one of the world leaders in the dairy business, and its FrieslandCampina Professional Systems division specializes in advanced dairy-based solutions for the food service and manufacturing industries, with a particular emphasis on encapsulation technology. TECHNIA’s role in this context is to create a digital collaboration platform that sharpens and streamlines the collaboration between the various suppliers and manufacturers of the Dutch company's Lattiz product line.
Lattiz is an award-winning milk frothing system designed for baristas and hotel and restaurant staff. It delivers smooth, high-quality milk froth at the touch of a button, saving time and reducing waste.
It is also clear that the group of companies is a major player in the global dairy industry. Royal FrieslandCampina NV generated nearly €13 billion in revenue in 2024, of which the FrieslandCampina Professional Systems division accounts for around 20%, or at least did the year before (2023).
The more exact scope of the order that TECHNIA received is not clear from the press release. However, the CEO of the Addnode-owned subsidiary, Magnus Falkman, sees an important role for this Dassault Systèmes’ largest global VAR (Value Added Reseller):
“We are proud to support FrieslandCampina in its digital journey,” the TECHNIA boss says in a comment, and continued: “The Lattiz product line is a remarkable example of how innovation, collaboration, and digital excellence come together. Our focus is to give our customers the tools and expertise to deliver smarter, more sustainable products faster.”
He also added that the FrieslandCampina Professional division did a comprehensive evaluation process, and that the division will work with Dassault's ”3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud to manage product data, streamline collaboration with external partners, and future-proof its development process.”
An interesting angle on TECHNIA when it comes to DS solutions, is the company’s breadth. In short, it has produced effective PLM installations in extremely diverse industries. We are talking about everything from clothing, travel, and leisure equipment (Guess, TUI, and Haglöfs) to construction and civil engineering (Skanska), medical technology (B.Brown), and monster sports cars (Koenigsegg), to name a few examples. Even the dairy industry isn’t new to the TECHNIA team: It has previously installed a major PLM solution at Arla, the world's fifth largest dairy producer.

Standardization of data and collaboration between suppliers
With the platform in place and fully operational, FrieslandCampina Professional Systems expects to be able to, “ensure real-time collaboration between multiple sites and partners, improve traceability, accelerate product updates and maintain a single source of truth for all technical documentation and specifications. This partnership reflects FrieslandCampina’s broader commitment to innovation, quality and operational excellence across its entire portfolio.”

The division has also pursued standardization for its broader global operational technology and manufacturing execution systems (MES) using a stack based on Siemens and Aveva technology.

Also a User of Siemens and AVEVA Solutions
Hence, a focus for FrieslandCampina Professional is to standardizing on data and collaboration across its entire supply chain through the PLM platform.
Notably, the division has also pursued standardization for its broader global operational technology and manufacturing execution systems (MES) using a stack based on Siemens and Aveva technology. Moreover, it has also implemented Tetra Pak PlantMaster for automation and data integration in its production facilities.
It also uses SAP solutions for various business functions.

Generally, FrieslandCampina Professional Systems uses digital simulation in its product development processes, particularly through the use of advanced digital platforms and modeling tools. The division also applies ”mathematical models to optimize the evaporation process” and other production processes. They also employ digital twin models for production simulation and scheduling in the manufacturing of food ingredients.

PLEASED with the partnership and development agreement between TECHNIA and FrieslandCampina Professional. The agreement between the parties will ensure real-time collaboration across multiple sites and partners, improve traceability, accelerate product updates, and maintain a single source of truth for all technical documentation and specifications.

Lattiz – a Revolutionary Milk Foaming System
So, what is Lattiz more precisely? It is a fully automatic milk foaming system designed to produce consistent barista-quality milk froth at the touch of a button from a special milk pack, creating drinks such as cappuccino and latte.
A key feature is its hygienic, closed system design, which eliminates the need for daily chemical cleaning and allows the opened pack to be stored in the machine for up to 10 days without refrigeration.
Finally, it is noted in the press release that, “Lattiz, the revolutionary milk foaming system trusted by thousands of baristas and hotel staff across Europe, continues to grow rapidly.”

AI and Smart Technologies
Royal FrieslandCampina’s vision, ”nourishing by nature,” is achieved through a commitment to ”making dairy right,” which is supported by the innovative use of technology throughout its global operations. The company’s dedication to sustainability and providing nutrition is driven by this approach, as it uses technology to ensure that its dairy products are produced sustainably and ethically worldwide.  With multiple partners involved in the design, engineering and production of the Lattiz system and its consumables, the coordination of activities covered by the PLM system becomes of great importance.
Moreover, the company states it uses ”data, AI, and smart technologies” to improve product development and bring innovations to the market faster.”
