EPLAN Forum 2024: Electrical Design, Digital Twins and Automation at the Technological Forefront

STANDARDIZATION AN ESSENTIAL PILLAR IN AUTOMATED ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION. As the autumn season has begun, the announcements of user events are coming at a rapid pace. One of the more interesting companies that today talks about their upcoming event is the German electrical design software developer EPLAN. The company is well known for its software and service solutions in electrical construction, automation and mechatronics. Above all, it develops one of the world's leading software solutions for machine and electrical cabinet builders and describes itself as, "the optimal partner for streamlining challenging construction processes." With its upcoming EPLAN Forum, the focus is, just like last year, on "Transformation in Engineering." The world of design is changing at a rapid pace, the digital transformation is in full swing and for those who want to develop innovative ways of thinking and solutions, it is not a bad idea to take part in EPLAN Forum's networking event.
EPLAN Forum, is set up in a hybrid format, with physical participants as well as digital online participants. The event takes place in German Cologne in September (25th to 26th) and covers topics including automated construction, machine cabling and integration of ERP and PDM systems. International major players in the fields will present their practical experiences with EPLAN software – and provide valuable insights and help to other interested parties who want to get the most out of their processes, from top management down to experienced EPLAN users.
EPLAN's director of Vertical Market Management, Harold van Waardenburg, comments:
"More and more companies are focusing on eliminating manual work steps and expanding their automation in technology. They are going to the next level in the process with automated engineering. Automation and machine cabling with precise cable lengths and the use of plug and play, all based on the digital twin, are just some of the core topics covered during this event.
In total, van Waardenburg expects at least 300 participants and can expect many reports on companies' practical experiences – presented live by companies such as German Bender Solutions and Kaeser Kompressoren. Red Eléctrica de España participates from Spain, while Austrian PMS Elektro- und Automationstechnik and American Rockwell Automation are other examples. But how to achieve the highest possible degree of automation? Click on the title to read more in the article on PLM&ERP News.

The event’s starting point is to present strategies for this. Above all, the preliminary material points to standardization as an essential pillar in this. But there are additional methods and approaches depending on a company’s specific requirements – for example, the targeted integration of EPLAN data into ERP and PDM systems, which can unlock a lot of potential. In fact, the question – ”How can engineering and downstream processes be optimized in a future-oriented way?” – is something that almost all companies have to ask themselves these days.

A deep dive into practical experience
International speakers from EPLAN’s clientele will share their very practical experiences and will take attendees on their own journeys to greater efficiency in technology – among them:
Red Eléctrica de España: On ensuring a continuous national electricity supply – via parametric technology for protection and control
Bender Solutions: Securing the electricity supply – via systematic variants for customized customer solutions in record time
TK Elevator: Driving elevators to the top of the market – via global standardization and automation
Rockwell Automation: Internationally positioned – via variant management and automation in technology
The Kaeser Compressor: From engineering to manufacturing – via EPLAN-SAP integration
PMS Elektro- und Automationstechnik: Economically design projects for plant systems
Winkler+Dünnebier / Hahn Automation: Electrification of production lines – via the digital twin.
