PacsOn Rallies Around a Single Central Hub for effective Migration to the Cloud on SAP’s S/4HANA Platform

The company’s CEO, ANDERS DAHL: “Supports both our decentralized model and cutting edge sustainability ambitions.” Today the cloud is central to SAP's strategy and much of the investment in recent years has been about convincing the customer base of the value of taking the step up to the cloud and to the company's flagship in this context, S/4HANA.
The advantages are several, but some of the most important are about the flexibility inherent in the system's modular structure and the resulting possibilities to combine and integrate modules around things that affect companies' core processes in terms of, for example, finance, personnel, material handling in manufacturing and the supply chain. But the reasons may be more weighty than that; especially since everything points towards a transition to an AI-driven economy, which, among other things, requires significantly greater processing capacity to handle the increases in data volume that AI brings. It is clear that the cloud's performance, its operational efficiency, its flexibility as a technology platform and carrier of new business models - combined with its capacities regarding distribution logistics - have superior potential.
PacsOn, a leading Swedish supplier of packaging solutions, has adopted this approach. The company is therefore facing a comprehensive digital transformation. With SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud as its hub, PacsOn is now bringing the entire group together around a common business platform – an initiative that will provide faster processes, better efficiency and sharper tools for sustainability work. From previously having at least two systems in each area, the company is now guided by an effort to reduce complexity, simplify, and standardize on a coherent platform.
“With SAP, we get tools that support both our decentralized model and our ambition to be at the forefront of sustainability,” states Anders Dahl, CEO of PacsOn in today’s case study.
PacsOn currently consists of well-established companies in 15 locations from Malmö to Skellefteå. The group has approximately 200 employees and a turnover of $170 million. Customers range from manufacturing and e-commerce to hotels, restaurants, and the public sector.
What are the more detailed reasons for the company's SAP S/4HANA investment? How do you envision the implementation process to look like? What are the primary benefits?

From Many Systems to a Common Foundation
As PacsOn grew, it became clear that different business systems and processes were slowing down development. To succeed, a common platform and uniform master data were needed.
”We had at least two systems in each area, which created unnecessary complexity. With SAP’s business system in the cloud, we get a standardized solution that is continuously developed and helps us keep the business together,” says Björn Logius, IT Manager at PacsOn.

In addition to SAP S/4HANA, other solutions such as SAP Commerce Cloud, Sales and Service Cloud, SAP Integration Suite and Central Invoice Management are also being implemented. Together, they form a comprehensive solution where SAP Business AI can be used to improve customer service and increase the degree of self-service.

Rapid Rollout Across the Country
The implementation is taking place at a high pace. The first units will be put into operation in March 2026, and the entire rollout will be completed by the summer of the same year. The project is being carried out together with IT partner Pearl.
“We are a fast-paced organization with strong local roots. Our strategy is to combine this with shared systems and processes. With SAP, we get tools that support both our decentralized model and our ambition to be at the forefront of sustainability,” says the company’s CEO, Anders Dahl.

Willingness to Change and Faith in the Future
The broad commitment among employees has been crucial. Around ten leaders within the group are involved in the process and the support for the change is strong. For PacsOn, the initiative means that all units will have access to the same customer register and article data. This provides completely new opportunities to measure, follow up and develop both the business and the sustainability goals. With SAP as a partner, PacsOn looks forward to creating a stable digital foundation – a platform that not only strengthens its own organization, but also helps customers become more efficient, profitable, and sustainable.
